Booming Service Robot Industry Welcomes Toilet Cleaning Robot

The robotic technology industry has been growing rapidly in recent years, especially in the service robot segment. This aligns with the American public adopting smart home technologies, all of which leverage intelligence and convenience to improve our lives. We can change our thermostat while driving home and check to see what groceries are in the refrigerator while walking down a supermarket aisle. There are also domestic robots that clean floors, carpets, and even cat litters. Part of this growing market is the development of the world’s first portable toilet cleaning robot – the Giddel.

Robots of all shapes and sizes are becoming commonplace. They are being used in professional environments, such as medical, logistics, and defense. A growing number of domestic service robots are also on the rise. Studies show that the total number of service robots sold in 2016 grew to about 6.7 million, up 24% compared to 2015 (note: last time data was published).

It doesn’t seem that the expansion will be slowing, according to the International Federation of Robotics. The primary global resource for robotics data projects that sales of domestic tasks robots (think vacuum cleaning, lawn mowing, window washing, etc.) could reach an estimated value of around $11 billion by 2020. If you break it down by areas of application, household robots are largest segment in the domestic market, in terms of units sold and market value. They easily outpace those for entertainment and leisure, as shown in figure 1.

Why the Attraction to Robot Cleaners?

Domestic service robots are no different than any other market. Consumer demand drives growth and sales. There is something very attractive and appealing about cleaning robots, especially one that can disinfect the toilet bowl, that is convincing people that they should purchase one to improve their quality of life.

Here are four factors that make a person buy a robotic cleaner.

More Free Time: We conducted a survey that revealed four out of every five people (80%) spend as much as two hours a day on household chores. We emphasize – that’s on a daily basis! So, after people endure an entire day at work and commuting, their reward is to spend an extra hour or two cleaning the house.

Domestic service robots such as Giddel can help convert that time to something more enjoyable with people you care about. With Giddel, all you have to do is attach it to its base, as shown in Figure 2, squirt a standard toilet bowl disinfectant, such as Clorox® or Spic-n-Span®, and press a button. Then, you can go back to enjoying life.

Disgust: No one likes to get their hands dirty, especially in the depths of a disgusting toilet bowl with countless germs. Most Americans work hard at their job. They don’t want to come home to don gloves, pull out the plastic toilet brush and get on their hands and knees to perform a tedious task. That’s where service robots, such as the Giddel, come in. The portable toilet cleaning robot cleans the entire bowl while you relax on your couch. You can sit back with the piece of mind that Giddel not only does the job, it does it well.

Technology: People have become very comfortable with technology. We live a life online, either through our mobile device or computer. We have the aforementioned smart homes and even autonomous cars. It’s only natural that domestic service robots fit right into today’s lifestyle.

A toilet cleaning robot such as the Giddel is more than a great time saving assistant. It has a very advanced and rugged design with a high degree of intelligence. Early adopters who embrace technology, as well as those who have to be the first on the block with the newest gadget, will be happy to see the initial portable toilet cleaning robot in their bathroom.

Family focus: The best part of having a robotic cleaner like the Giddel is that it frees up your schedule. It allows you to spend time with family and friends, so you can nurture relationships with children, a spouse, and other important people in your life. The Giddel and other domestic service robotics help unclutter your personal schedule. The to-do list becomes filled with hobbies and fun activities, not chores.

Smart Home Technology
